#101 - Trail Blazers (Live at Maverick Race)

A Runner’s Life - Podcast tekijän mukaan Marcus Brown

The First Mile Always Lies returns with another special collaboration with the big run podcast. Myself and Danny Easton recorded live at Meopham, Gravesend at the Maverick Race event, Ultra Black Trails. The aim was to promote diversity on the trails. So we take a deep dive and give you a behind the scenes aspect of the race, and even take you into the race. In this episode we speak with Dora Atim who founded Ultra Black Running, which she created to form a safe space for black women and non-gender conforming people to turn up, and truly own their place at the starting line. She partnered with Maverick races to bring this event to fruition. We also speak with Ben Macwilliam, Director of Maverick Race and gain valuable insights into what it takes to put together an event like this. We also capture a series of conversations with: Blair Wilson - winner of the short distance event Simbarashe from BTR captures some great content live from the runner’s on the trails. And we speak with his sister Cheidza who completed her first trail race. Plus we capture additional experiences, and insights of the running community in this podcast.
