Have you ever felt judged because of the way you looked or the type of job you have or because you’re unemployed or a student? Or have you judged others and later felt bad about it? Getting judged and our judgments of others plays an integral role when you network for your small business. Sometimes people on the networking circuit often won't take the time to get to know another person because they think they might not add any value to their business and on the other hand, they will make a b-line to someone they think will give them tons of business. In both cases, the results aren’t on par with what they originally thought. I don’t know about you, but I’ve sure have fallen victim to my own judgments of others. I’ve met people and then later spent more time with them...and realized they’re actually great people. Not only were they great people, but they added immense value to my business. After finding out how wonderful they are and the value they added to my life and business, it really made me feel terrible for having judged them in the first place. This is your friendly reminder that another human being can always teach you something, give you their time, expertise, or lend a helping hand in order to add value to your life and business. Value while it is subjective, it doesn’t always equate to finances. Tune into this episode to learn how to avoid writing people off while networking to build your small business.
