23 - The Space Trader

THE SPACE TRADER EPISODE SYNOPSIS: A violent cosmic storm devastates the family’s hydroponic garden, leaving them woefully short of food. This has been done deliberately by a sinister Space Trader who now sets up a store full of exotic merchandise. The Robinson do not trust him and will not deal with him, but Smith secretly swaps the robot for a private supply of food. When the family discovers this, none of them will speak to him. To get the robot back, Smith who has nothing else to offer, carelessly agrees to the traders suggestion that he trade in himself. He does not think he will ever have to honor the bargain but the contract, a card with an electronic imprint of his hand on it, gives the trader power over him. When the trader announces that he is leaving and taking smith with him, the doctor is unable to refuse to go.
