CALLING ALPHA CONTROL: PHIL HAMILTON EPISODE SYNOPSIS: We welcome a special guest to Alpha Control; Lost in Space artist Mr. PHIL HAMILTON. Phil is an incredibly talented 3D Computer Graphic artist & a life-long Fan of Lost in Space. His passion for the show is well-known to the online Lost in Space Fan community as a result of the numerous contributions that he’s made over the years to several online series forums, show related Facebook groups & his YouTube Channel. One of his signature works is his spectacular YouTube video titled; ‘Lost in Space: Virtual Tour of Stage 6 in 1965’. It’s a fascinating digital look at one of the three sound stages used during the filming of the 1st season episode ‘One of Our Dogs is Missing’. Combing still shots from the episode with painstaking research & Phil’s beautiful CG Animation, this short film allows viewers to go back in time & experience what it was like behind-the-scenes during the filming of a classic episode of the series.  Recently, he fulfilled a long-held dream & broke new ground with his stellar 3D Animated Lost in Space episode ‘Miracle in Space’. Phil’s stunning homage to Irwin Allen’s classic Sci-Fi Adventure series is the result of his talents & months of dedicated effort. The Non-Commercial Fan Film is the closest that we will ever come to having a brand-new episode of the original Lost in Space. PHIL’S BIO: Before we speak with him, a little background on Mr. Hamilton. Phil grew up in Dallas, Texas and graduated from high school in Garland Texas - a suburb of Dallas. He is a self-proclaimed “monster kid” having his formative years in the 1960s.  His love of Lost in Space began when it premiered on CBS in 1965 & that devotion has never faded. In the mid 90’s he attended a Big D Super collectibles convention in 1997, where he met and spoke with Jonathan Harris in person. That brush with a LIS celebrity started him on the road to becoming a true ‘Mega Fan’ of the show. In 1999, he discovered the B9 Robot Builder’s Club, making several life-long friendships & ultimately finished his own full-scale Robot. Attendance at more conventions followed; which afforded him the opportunity to meet & interact with other cast members including the man inside the B9 Robot; the great Bob May.  In addition to his love for LIS, Phil’s always had a creative ambition to make movies. His professional career in Information Technology gave him the skills but not necessarily the outlet to pursue that desire. So over time he began pursuing that dream during his spare time; experimenting & perfecting his techniques of CG film-making. With the death of Jonathan Harris in 2002, the possibility of a live-action reprise of LIS that featured the original cast members seemed to slip away forever. It was that event sparked a new idea in Phil’s mind; a CG animated episode of classic LIS using the voices of the surviving cast. “Why Not?”, he asked. Well, the rest is history. We’re going to speak with Mr. Hamilton today about his love for LIS, his life of being a ‘Super Fan’ of the series & dig deeper into his incredible 3D CG animated movies. I hope you will enjoy this compelling interview with talented Lost in Space CG animated film-maker & Series Enthusiast Mr. Phil Hamilton. So, sit back relax and enjoy.
