265. The Cost of Doing Business $$$
Artist Academy - Podcast tekijän mukaan Andrea Ehrhardt
You know we love to talk about art money here on the podcast! This episode is all about the numbers behind a well-functioning business. I’ll be sharing some cost comparisons with the intention of convincing you to charge more for your art. Businesses know the cost of doing business which is why I find it easier to approach a commercial job with a high bid as opposed to something residential. But even homeowners know the cost of creating and maintaining a classy property. So let’s talk about a variety of expenses, including what it cost to build my own art studio, in this money episode. Here’s a peek at some of the numbers I talk about in today’s episode:I talked with a white wall painter who made $30,000 in less than 2 weeks painting an old Hardees building inside and out. Need a vinyl decal? $10 per square foot is a basic average rate, plus design fees… for something that won’t last as long as paint. That’s $1,000 for a 10 x 10ft wall. An average landscaping package for a large business building starts at $35,000. A large business (1 Walmart location) will pay around $70,000 per year for snow removal.Attending/sponsoring conferences (on a small scale) costs on average $2-10k. Restaurant owners are paying out several thousands of dollars every week to employees. They are not going to think twice about your $1,500 logo bid. Need a sign made? Expect to pay a minimum of a few thousand and upwards of tens of thousands for something that lights up.Listen to hear a better explanation of where these costs come from and how they relate to your art business. www.ArtistAcademy.co www.ArtistAcademyPodcast.com
