Petunia Possum is shy but wants new friends. She pretends to sleep when they are around, afraid of being rejected Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Pretending Possum” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Female Story Begins: 11:49 Pretending Possum Excerpt:  The peaceful moon smiled down on the enchanted forest.  Petunia possum looked up at the bright sliver and smiled back.  Petunia always felt comforted by the friendly moon. It was her reliable friend in the sky.  Anytime she felt alone all the little possum had to do was look up, and she had the company of the moon and stars.  However the moon and the stars weren’t very good at conversation.  As Petunia looked up at the sky she wished she could find a friend.   The little possum felt very shy.  She really did want friends, but every time another animal came near, she would pretend to be asleep.  Petunia didn’t know why she did it, she just did.  She scurried around under the trees looking for an animal who might be a friend.  Petunia sat down under a tree and began to think, “What if they tell me to go away, or they don’t like me?” At that moment, some bunnies hopped her way.  Petunia immediately lied down and curled into a ball, pretending she was asleep.   Then dragon noticed the sleeping possum as it passed the fir tree.  Knowing that the bunnies would have been very friendly to Petunia, the dragon sighed and smiled at the possum as she opened her eyes, encouraging her to be brave.  Petunia looked into the dragon’s kind eyes and decided that she would be brave.  In fact tonight, if she saw another animal, she would make sure that she stayed awake.  No more pretending!
