Ruby June takes a piano lesson with Miss Bonnie but learns she can't learn how to play perfectly in just one day. Narrator: Male Story Begins: 4:53 Pretty Piano Excerpt: It was a breezy day on Ahway Island. The trees swayed in the wind, the rustling of their leaves a comforting sound to the friendly birds, bugs, squirrels, and other residents of Ruby June Guerdy’s neighborhood. Ruby June watched the movement of the trees in the wind as she road down the street on the school bus. Today was an important, special day. Her mom’s good friend Miss Bonnie was going to teach Ruby June how to play the piano. Ruby June always liked to listen to Miss Bonnie and her mom play piano together and now she wanted to learn, too. The little girl was almost bouncing in her seat on the bus, she was so excited for her first lesson in learning to play such a beautiful instrument. Waiting for Ruby June at the bus stop, Miss Bonnie was wearing a pretty blue blouse that, in Ruby June’s opinion, made her brown skin look extra beautiful. Miss Bonnie and Ruby June’s mom, Ms. Guerdy, both taught at the Ahway Island School, but Miss Bonnie taught the older kids and was finished with school at a different time than Ms. Guerdy Today’s Meditation: Imagine drawing gentle shapes in the soothing sand as you relax before today's story.
