From early August on, NGOs in Georgia that receive more than 20% of their budget from abroad have to register as organizations "under foreign influence". This is part of the foreign agents law that the georgian parliament has adopted in spring 2024 - despite weeks-long protests of hundreds of thousands of people throughout the country. Directly after the law had been adopted, the parliament announced another law - intending to ban so-called "LGBTQI+ propaganda. Salome Chagelishvili, a feminist activist who works with the Women's Fund in Georgia, talks about the political situation in Georgia, the laws' impact on civil society and especially on vulnerable groups, like for example queer people. She also talks about the forthcoming elections in autumn - and about the importance of solidarity.
