Is the World Happiness Report bullsh*t? | Yascha Mounk & Frank Martela #537

Futucast - Podcast tekijän mukaan Isak Rautio

For eight years in a row, Finland has been officially named the happiest country in the world, by the credible sounding World Happiness Report. When the annual result is published, the most highly respected media outlets race to publish reports of the most up to date rankings, and perhaps something about Finnish happiness exceptionalism. But what is the report actually about? Does it measure happiness at all, and if not, then what does it measure? Could our uncritical attitude towards happiness rankings actually be bad for society?

Our guests of this episode are Yascha Mounk, a political scientist from Johns Hopkins University, and Frank Martela, philosopher and meaning of life researcher at Aalto University.
