But the shooting at the center of White Devil is not just unusual, it turned out to be that country's biggest news story in years.Josh investigated the shooting of Henry Jemmott, a senior Belizean Police Officer, by a Canadian property developer named Jasmine Hartin — and then continued with the story for two years after. What started as tabloid fodder turned out to be a complicated story of colonialism, corruption, and the mysterious billionaire at the story's center.Josh and Adam start at the beginning, a conversation with filmmaker Will Gluck (Anyone But You) about finding a project to work on together. The goal was to find something fairly straightforward, and White Devil turned out to be anything but.Josh couldn’t travel to Belize initially - pandemic times - so got in contact with a local journalist who helped him learn the essentials of this surprisingly small-feeling country where everyone seems to know one another. Eventually, he connected directly with the accused shooter, Jasmine Hartin, who had two children with the son of legendary British businessman Michael Ashcroft.Josh opens up about the drawbacks of ‘parachute journalism,’ some valid criticism of the show that he is still unsure how to address, and what's happened lately with the show's protagonist, Jasmine.Listen to Inside the Tent on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts.Email us with questions or comments: [email protected] hope to see you inside the tent again soon.
