Suicide.org has a 24-hour email support for those who are feeling suicidal.The U.S. Department of Health and Human Resources also has a listing of free clinics in your area. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) offers a national helpline: 1-800-662-HELP (4357). Partnership for Prescription Assistance with this toll free number: 1-888-477-2669 or you may access their website. The National Alliance on Mental Illness also has a helpline that offers free assistance and advice at 1-800-950-6264. University hospitals often have programs that give patients access to interns and residents on a sliding payment scale that’s typically much less expensive than mental healthcare providers in private practice.  The non-profit Open Path Psychotherapy Collective matches middle- and lower-income people (and families) with affordable mental health services.
