In this episode I am discussing with Human Performance Scientist James Hewitt about his idea of knowledge work as an endurance activity and how we all could work smarter and not necessarily harder. James is researching wellbeing and performance in the workplace in his PhD as well as coaching and speaking about smart knowledge work all around the world. James is also the author of the Exponential book and the winner of the Nordic Business Forum speaker contest in 2018, AND a Good Bugger! We are covering topics such as balancing effort and recovery in knowledge work and ways to enhance engagement in knowledge work and decrease burnout risk. The specific concepts we discuss range from sense of control to individual strengths to measuring balance between effort and recovery to what are you enduring for in the first place.
