Next time you go up into an airplane and leave the safety of the ground behind remember that it was two lifelong bachelors that developed the earliest technology to allow you to do that. Orville and Wilbur Wright remained permanent bachelors for their entire lives. If they were married the odds would be stacked against them with regards to the amount of time they had to devote to the development of early aviation. How many of us believe that if the Wright Brothers had wives and kids they would risk their lives every time they went up into the air in first flimsy airplanes. They were flying around wearing a suit and tie and didn't even have seat belts in many cases. And in 1908 they went through the first fatal airplane crash where Orville Wright was severely injured and his passenger Thomas Selfridge was killed. This was in front of a crowd of two thousand people. How many of you think that if Orville had a wife and kids and she saw this happen he would never again be allowed to fly again? Thinking about the Wright Brothers kind of reminds me of old videos I watched from the 1950s and 1960s. Those videos were of astronaut wives viewing and visiting the launch pads during their husbands launch into space. And I believe that Nasa and the United States government didn't invite the women to view their husbands blast off into outer space for the wife's sake. I believe they did it to keep the astronauts from chickening out because his wife would apply too much pressure on their husbands. It was a way to pass on some of the husbands honor and attention onto her so that she would leave him alone and not stress him out as much as she would have. You will notice that in early space travel the astronauts wife and other family members always seemed to be front and center in the news footage and government broadcasts. The family element was seemingly just as important as the first step on the moon or the first spacewalk. Many of the Apollo astronaut wives had missionradios from Nasa directly installed in their homes and in many cases in their bedrooms so they could monitor every detail of their husband's missions. Astronauts were under intense pressure to accomplish their missions correctly and the last thing they needed was stress from their wife to distract them. But let me get back to the Wright Brothers.Dollar crisis and oil shortage aren't the end of the worldhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7Ty3...Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/mgtow/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
