Solutions for Kids’ “BAD” Behavior in School | POF163

Parenting Our Future - Podcast tekijän mukaan Robbin McManne

“I’ve seen way too many kids stressed at school, do something bad and think they were bad, it can stop today. Let’s start building up our kids. I’ll show you how, even when they do the worst thing or act in a horrible way.” ~ Dr. Karin JakubowskiDr. J, as her students call her, is my guest for this episode. She’s a highly accomplished educator and is helping teachers and parents understand what’s really driving “bad” behavior in our kids. I never wanted to be the mom of “that kid” but I am. I’m the mom who has the kid that struggles in school, has gotten into fights, been rude to teachers, sent to the principal’s office, and more. I used to feel so ashamed and helpless. What I have come to embrace is that school isn’t a measure of our kids’ worth or intelligence. Sometimes school just isn’t the right environment for learning. Karin brings a fresh perspective in solving behavior that’s seen as difficult by connecting before correcting behavior. She has seen transformations in behavior by simply connecting, listening, probing a little deeper, giving empathy and finding solutions.
