Robert Fico was forced to step down as prime minister following the murder of investigative journalist Jan Kuciak in 2018. The liberal party Progressive Slovakia surprised the public and ended up second. The party led by the vice president of the European parliament is a newcomer in the Slovak Congress house. The Slovak minority of the Roma people massively supported former prime minister Igor Matovic. Some people say it's because parliamentary campaign in which the OĽaNO party promised a 500 euro election reward.
