Herbert Hofmann and Martin Gjesing on creating energy, guiding designers, their legacy, and more in this week's conversation.

Herbert Hofmann, originally hailing from the picturesque mountains of Austria, embarked on a remarkable journey that led him to the heart of Berlin's fashion scene. Starting his career in the world of public relations, Herbert's path took an unexpected turn when he found himself at Voo Berlin, a small but visionary concept store in the vibrant city. With an innate sense of style and a keen eye for trends, Herbert became the head buyer at Voo, where he transformed the store into one of the world's most coveted retail destinations.

In 2019, Herbert Hofmann took on the role of Creative Director and Head of Buying at Highsnobiety, a prominent fashion media company. Under his visionary leadership, Herbert has sparked relationships between Highsnobiety and emerging designers, launched the brand's first in-house clothing project, and is championing the company's first concept retail store in Berlin. Herbert's unique journey is a testament to his unwavering passion and intuition, making him a true trailblazer in the fashion industry.

Martin Gjesing is a visionary force shaping the Scandinavian fashion and design landscape. Martin, in partnership with Frederik Bjerregaard, founded MOON in 2013, a Copenhagen-based creative agency that has catapulted local brands like Cecile Bahnsen, Ganni, and Sophie Billie Brahe to global success.

Martin's journey began with an unexpected turn—an unfortunate car accident that eventually led him to Acne Studios. At just 22 years old, he assumed the role of CEO for the Danish division and later became the Head of Retail. During his remarkable decade-long tenure, he helped transform Acne Studios into a global powerhouse, increasing the annual turnover from 3 million euros to a staggering 150 million euros.

Following his tenure at Acne Studios, Martin, along with Frederik, embarked on a new mission with MOON: helping local brands refine their business strategies and creative identities. Their expertise has benefited renowned brands such as Grace Wales Bonner, Asics, Nike, Rimowa, Levi's, and Ecco's innovative project, At.Kolkektive.

Beyond his role at MOON, Martin is the founder of Space, an art and photography magazine, and the owner of Italo Caffe.
