Is nitrogen rate connected to surface area disruption?

March in Japan is the start of cherry blossom season, and on golf courses there is a lot of aerification. I've noticed that golf courses in Japan generally don't do as much surface area removal as is common in some other parts of the world. But the surfaces can still perform.
