Our guest today is Dr. Vikram Mansharamani, who is currently a lecturer at Harvard University. In addition to teaching, he also advises several Fortune 500 CEOs and was listed as LinkedIn’s #1 Top Voice for Money, Finance and Global Economics twice. He has a Ph.D, two Masters degrees from MIT, and a Bachelors degree from Yale University. In this episode, we discuss his new book, Think for Yourself: Restoring Common Sense in an Age of Experts and Artificial Intelligence. He explains when to rely on experts for help, the importance of focus in today's age, the downside of being constantly overwhelmed with options, and why being a generalist, or taking a generalist approach to problem solving may be favorable to relying on experts. Then we follow up on his 2011 book, BoomBustology, which used a multidisciplinary framework to analyze financial bubbles before they burst.  We discuss the slowdown in China (which he predicted back in 2011) and what he sees in today's market with the increased government debt, participation of the retail traders, and low interest rates. He also touches on why he is one of the few that isn't so bullish on India, and why he's both excited and nervous about going forward. Please enjoy the episode.   You can purchase his new book on Amazon or Bookshop.   Follow Vikram on Twiter at @mansharamani or connect to him via his website here.
