A law expert says the Whakaari White Island trial was a messy process. The island's owner, Whakaari Management Limited, has been found guilty on one health and safety charge brought by WorkSafe. WorkSafe charged 13 parties in 2020; six pleaded guilty ahead of the trial and another six had charges dismissed. Law expert Chris Gallavin told Mike Hosking that not having corporate manslaughter in our legislation, is a glaring hole.
