364 - Digital Nomad Mark Phillips lives in a tent and runs a six-figure business

The Small Business Big Marketing Podcast with Tim Reid - Podcast tekijän mukaan Tim Reid

Mark Phillips infuriates me. He calls himself a digital nomad, running six-figure business (cheekily called Business In Barefeet) as he and his wife Linda, travel the world. He has no fixed address, lives in a tent and stays in one place no longer than a week or so. He did this interview from his ‘office’, which involved sitting on the beach overlooking the Great Barrier Reef. Some of you would say they’re livin’ the la vita loca .. others of you probably couldn’t think of anything worse. Either way, join me as we find out why and how to become a digital nomad! Listen in as we discuss: Why they did it? What it’s like to run a serious business literally from a beach or the side of the road! How they work hard at building trust How much the world has changed in order for such a nomadic lifestyle to be successful And so much more Here’s what caught my attention from chatting with Mark Phillips of Business In Barefeet: “If your environment isn’t working for you, then find a new environment.” Now that doesn't mean you have to hit the road like Mark and his wife have … but at least think about where else you can do business. For me, I have certain places that I go when I want to be creative, and other places where I go if I just need to get shit done. More businesses need to embrace new ways of communicating with their clients. If you’re not at the very least familiar with Whatsapp, Voxer, Skype (to name a few) then you’re behind the 8-ball. It doesn’t mean you have to use them all, but at least make an informed decision not to use them! Always be on the lookout for ways to build trust with your clients. Mark and his wife have to work particularly hard at this given they have no fixed address, but as a business owner it’s good practice for you to constantly ask yourself what can you be doing to build more trust.   But the marketing gold doesn’t stop there, in this episode you’ll also discover: How to create awesome infographics How to create free webpages thanks to Google A past episode in which I chat with one of my most inspiring guests yet   Links & Resources mentioned: Mark’s website - Business In Barefeet Mark on Twitter Mark on Facebook How to create awesome infographics How to create free webpages thanks to Google Interview with Glenn Azar from The Adventure Professionals   Please support these businesses who make this show possible: Dale Beaumont’s 52 Ways – An amazing free 1-day live event for business owners where you’ll discover 52 ways to boost your business profits.
