From May 2011: Phil Gries joins Ed in the studio for a special edition of The Sounds of Lost Television featuring rarely heard audio highlights from Johnny Carson’s first ten years as host of The Tonight Show, including a clip from the first anniversary program of Oct. 1, 1963. Most of the tapes from the first decade of the Tonight Show broadcasts were erased by NBC, so this is a rare opportunity to hear the King of Late Night in his early days.
