Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is posing a number of serious questions for the global economy. Business people in the country share their perspectives on how the unfolding events will affect them. Oleg Chernyak, who runs a software development company in Kharkiv 40 kilometres from the Russian border, gives us his reaction. We also hear from Jock Mendoza-Wilson, deputy chair of the UK Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, tells us how businesses are coping as he heads for the border. Meanwhile, Jake Cordell from the Moscow Times gives us reaction from Moscow on the decline of the rouble and the Russian stock exchange, which is down by more than 30%. With the price of a barrel of oil surpassing $100, there are fears that the crisis in Ukraine will drive oil and gas prices up even further. Aura Sabadus, an energy expert from Kings College in London, discusses the implications of this, while John McCarthy from The Drum tells us that UEFA is coming under pressure to move May’s Champions League final from St Petersburg.
